Background:

American Express has long committed to connecting audiences to great independent storytelling, starting with their founding sponsorship of the Tribeca Film Festival almost a decade ago. And in 2010, the age of YouTube and ubiquitous social media, Amex wanted to celebrate in the indie spirit with a much larger audience. To give anyone with a great story a voice.

My Movie Pitch was the rare contest for both casual film fans and aspiring auteurs alike. You didn’t need to know a thing about making a film; you just needed a good idea for one, one that you could compellingly express in 60 seconds or less. The winner, as decided by a special Tribeca jury and the votes of online users, would get the perfect movie ending — having their story made into a film by an acclaimed indie director, premiering at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.
